After obtaining her BA in English
Literature from King Saud University in Riyadh, Asya continued her studies and
obtained her Masters degree in Public Policy and Administration from the
University of Massachusetts / Amherst. She then came back to Jeddah and founded
her first company: Tamkeen Development and Management Consulting, first CSR
specialized company in KSA. Asya Gained Research and management skills by
coordinating and supervising the 1st CSR study conducted in KSA
amongst the top 100 Saudi companies in coordination with Lund University
(IIIEE, Sweden).
Based on the study’s main findings, Asya
recommended and highlighted the need for an independent entity to advance CSR
whilst joining efforts between all sectors to support sustainable development
in the country. Asya perused the findings with SAGIA and advised them to adopt
such effort. SAGIA kicked-off with the launch of the 1st Saudi
Responsible Competitiveness Index. Based on that, her company has been
appointed as “local partner” responsible for Saudizing the criteria & methodology
used to evaluate the companies performance. Tamkeen is also responsible for
conducting the interviews with companies and support in the construction of the
index.
Founder and CEO, today Asya is a
consultant for Al Shura council, VP of the national consultants at the Saudi
chambers of commerce, and member of the consultants committee at the Jeddah
chamber of commerce. Asya is also a member participant of the National Dialogue
08 during which she introduced the idea of the index as a solution to encourage
private sector’s investment in addressing the employment challenge through
their CSR programs.
Asya is also a Member of Government
Policies and procedures for SMEs (Women committee) and is amongst the first
Saudi women representative at the Arab Labor Organization (ALO) in Cairo. She
is an Active member in several welfare associations.
