2B design

Benedicte de Vanssay de Blavous is a French designer who lived in different countries blending design, arts and crafts and social engagement.

Immediately after her studies Benedicte's spirit of adventure decided to travel the world to discover new cultures and help make a difference in people's lives. She trekked the Himalayas, worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, helped children in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, crisscrossed Africa and Asia, and was even briefly kidnapped by guerillas in the jungle of Mindanao. After working as an HR professional in Paris she moved in the mid 90s to the Middle East with her husband Raja and started different activities in Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Lebanon with local craftsmen. The inspirations from her travels and knowledge of different cultures culminated with the creation of 2b design in 2006. Fluent in Arabic she works with marginalized and disabled persons to create works of art based on the transformation of salvaged architectural elements from destroyed traditional Lebanese houses.
